The Board of the Dunster Community Forest Society has been made aware that several persons have been cutting and hauling firewood from within the area of the Dunster Community Forest without first acquiring permission to do so.

The Dunster Community Forest is an area-based Community Forest Agreement, and as such it has sole cutting rights over all timber that lies within its boundaries. This includes rights to firewood products. Cutting firewood within the DCF without being given the rights to cut by DCF officials constitutes timber poaching, and is a punishable offence.
